Ochre is a pigment extracted from ground around Pisa. It can be either yellow or brown. Caution: if you paint with ochre remember it is completely opaque.

If you are generalising.....Ochre is described as golden-yellow or a pale yellowish brown.
However as an artist...I have used ochre in ..yellow...brown....red and purple forms!
Hope this helps!
