Finding a reputable breeder can be a difficult task. You can go to the AKC.org and look at the breeder listings. Chihuahua prices vary state by state and according to the bloodline (champion backround) and by their size. Also depends on the why you want this dog, future breeding or showing or if you just want a pet. There is no real "average". If you are just looking for a companion pet, I would recommend a chihuahua rescue. You can Google Chihuahua Rescue and add your state.

From a good breeder that is breeding to AKC standards about $500-1200 depending on what the blood lines look like. Check out www.puppydogweb.com. I'm in the same search you are, this is where I have found the best quality. And please don't fall for the "teacup" thing, its false! There is no such thing, it just means that the dog was bred to be extra tiny by breeding the runts of several litters together. Its not healthy and they normally don't last long. Hope this helps!

Nobody is answering your question because you don't get it. You think you are buying an iPod or a cellphone and I'm quite sure that you are not going to keep that dog for long, because when you realized how much work and dedication is required, you will try to sell the dog and later you will dump it or take it to the shelter beacuse nobody in his/her right mind will pay for something he/she can get it for almost nothing.

A lot could depend of where you live. I'm in southern California and just paid $600 for my teacup chihuahua, which is a good price, about $200 dollars less than local petstore. You might want to try www.livedeal.com for a listing in your area to see about what it might cost where you live.
