Plasma is old technology. Do not buy it. It uses a ton of electricity, it is heavy, and it WILL wear out. Go with LCD if you can afford it in the screen size that you want, or go with a DLP tv for big-screen and low cost.

Buy a JVC LCoS (Or TrueHD) TV. They're a lot like LCD's in maintenence, but don't have the screendoor effect, provide crisp images, and don't have the video lag (It makes video games malfunction) of DLP.

Sony doesn't really have cutting edge technology for cheap anymore. When they did was the late 70's, with Trinitron Plus TV's. They were a lot better than other TV's of the time, but now, instead of being a useful, fair company, they are an unjust empire (They run the RIAA! They charge you too much!! They're the darkside now!!!)

Don't waste time playing games. Then the Plasma isn't so important. Save the money (and your valuable time) and get an LCD!

avoid the LCDs at all costs if you want a 42" or larger TV.
Plasma is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better.
I recommend the Pioneer plasmas.
