Well I noticed that a lot of people were saying that there is no proof that the Bible is true, but I was thinking...can anyone prove that the Bible is NOT true? Like with real solid evidence?

Ok, i see that everyone is saying that it disproves itself by the things it talks about (People being raised from the dead, etc), but what about faith? Just because you didn't see something happen doesn't mean it's not true. Take people for example. Just because you can't see someone who lived in the past doesn't mean that they didn't exist.

I have to ask all of you who are strong believers that the Bible and God don't exist...why? I mean none of you have given me solid evidence that the Bible isn't real. I am not trying to prove anyone wrong i simply want to know what your thoughts are!

Of course not. It's impossible to prove a negative.

Bertrand Russell (I think) made a very good argument about there being a teapot in orbit between the earth and the moon. He said further that this teapot is so small that it cannot be detected by human instruments.

You wanna prove it's not there?

Anyway, your question's rather a big one. What do you mean about the Bible 'being true'?

After all, it contradicts itself rather a lot. I suppose that that proves that it can't all be true. But is that enough for you?

Let's imagine that you could prove that the virgin birth never occurred and that the Garden of Eden never existed, yet it turned out that Jesus was crucified (if not resurrected) and that Moses did give his people ten commandments. Would that prove the Bible to be true or false? A bit of both?

Certainly "a bit of both" seems the most likely option...

Have you read about the history of the bible? I mean literature other than what the church sanctions? There are many objective resources out there. If you truly would like to understand the doubts people have about the bible, this would be a good place to start. Denying or not knowing the history of the church or the bible makes it hard for others to hear your arguments....no matter how convincing they might be.

I grew up as a Jehovah's Witness and then had a few years in limbo - then became a baptised Christian. Due to my upbringing, I became very skeptical of everyone else's view of God. I started reading and was a bit surprised by what I found...but it hasn't changed how I feel about God, just how I feel about the men (or women) who try to tell me who he is.

If you know anything about the bible, then you know how many people had their hands in it. I don't know about you, but the thought of the religious leaders today getting together and voting on what would be included or excluded from the bible for everyone else to read is very unsettling. How many denominations of Christianity are there now? How many ways are the scriptures interpreted between them? Too many for me.

If you believe that the bible is true and are happy with it, then you are very fortunate. To not know what to believe in can be torture for some people. I am happy that you have that faith...it is a blessing.

Unfortunately my dear it is being disproved daily, I have been a catholic for over 50 years, and I have come to really question the validity of the bible, one simply cannot take the bible on blind faith any more, there are just to many solid contradictions within the bible for it to be true, there is only one thing that will save the credibility of the bible today, and that is Christs return and I do not believe that is ever going to happen I'm sorry to say,

Atheist didn't write the bible. Christians did. Therefore ya'll are the ones who have to prove it's right. If I printed a book thay claimed that I saw the loch ness monster, wouldn't I be the one with the burden of proof and not the skeptics.

You want more.So you ask what about faith. Faith is belief that is not based in truth(look it up if you have to). If you still don't get these peoples answers, you will never get it so just don't worry about it. Have a good evening.

yes, there are many, google "the pagna origin of the christian myth) or visit
the bottom link, the bible was made in the 300s at the Council of Nicea by a group(large) of bishopes and constantines court.

There were Hundered of Gospels, but the fascist christians wanted to hear only what they wanted, so all pieces that shook the "rubble foundation" of christianity were excluded.

Jesus never existed, history makes that clear, he is a pagan idea told with jewish overtones, and so is god, god/s is an idea made in the eyes of man to help him explain that which as moral men, we cant.

Pretty much anyone who reads it can disprove it. It contradicts itself hundreds of times(ah the curse of leaving a paper trail). It contradicts reality countless times. God I am not disputing. Man God who communicates with an old book I dispute. God gave us many senses and inquisitive brains, we can use them to look at the world God made. That world, which is God's, contradicts the bible, which is man's.

No to both sides. Faith is what those who believe have. Faith is the substance of things hoped for but, not yet seen. Unbelievers have faith in themselves, nature, or whatever. Believers have faith in God. We believe that He wrote the Bible because of our personal relationship with Him, His Son, Jesus and His Holy Spirit.

Oh, lets see here... It was written by the same people who could have sworn the earth was flat.

How do we know its not flat... we have a picture of it. Photo evidence holds strong in the court of law.

Edit: How do we know Napolean Bonaparte existed because surely none of us are old enough to have seen him. Records.... Evidence... Documents.

Science cannot PROVE anything - there can only be reliable witness of the past to prove it....i.e fossils and the Bible for instance.....Evolutionists & creationists, believers & non-belivers all have the SAME evidence and facts - what's different is the pre-suppositions they have and the conclusions based on those pre-suppositions that they reach with the info provided. Technically NO ONE can PROVE the Bible is true - except GOD who recorded His eyewitness in the Bible....

Are you asking us to prove that people can't walk on water or raise from the dead?
