Ok so i need a place where i can do my wedding reception...I've looked every place I can think of...hotels and catering places are too much $ for me right now....
I looked for a place where they rented only the place, gave the chairs and tables but i had to provide the food...that for me was wonderful...when i was about to sign the contract he asked how many guests and then i told him and he said no that the fire marshall license would not allow..so now i dont have a place...
do anyone know where i can find a place in place such as Stamford, Norwalk, Greenwich in CT or Port chester, New Rochelle, WHitePlains, NY?
I would really appreciate it or any other options?
I really need the help...also my wedding is in septmeber this year...

I'm familiar with the area that you are talking about. It is very expensive for everything!! Perhaps you should look into going outside of those areas. There are some great reception halls in other areas of Fairfield County that maybe less expensive. I would look into those. You're guest may have to travel a little more, but if they aren't willing to travel then they really don't want to be there for you and your husband's special day.
Those closest to you will understand.

How about someone's house? Or maybe you can rent a house just for the event? My cousin got married a couple years ago on a cliff near a beach and had the reception at a beach house that the owners rent out as a vacation home. Try looking on craigslist for your area in rental or vacation homes or talk to your friends and see if they know anyone who has a house that would be appropriate. Good luck finding something!

Parks and museums, public gardens are all places to look at, using someones backyard is a possibility but remember that you will need to rent an enormous amount of chafing dishes and all sorts of supplies for eating and drinking and then theres staff and clean up. Rentals for tents are rather high too. The best I can come up with, off hand, is to limit your guest list, so you can fit what you can afford.

Are you having a church wedding? If so ask the minister if there is a place in the church where you can have it. You will most likely not be able to serve alcohol, but I don't believe alcohol has any place at a wedding, because it just causes problems.

Why not pick a park or a beach? Set up an indoor tent and have it there, it might be cheaper than a catering hall.

check the VFW, the moose lodge, and other organizations. they often have a hall that they rent out for just such occasions (many also have a stocked bar that they can have manned for you at a very reasonable rate)
