hi everyone
well this is something we all do unintentionally we say arabic words like Allah , rasul allah,...and so ....well this will be ok if you are talking to muslims or arabs but when we are talking to a hole different culture and language they misunderstand us ....why do we always have to use the word Allah when there is the word God in the english language ...its the same so why dont we use their language instead of owers at least when we are talking to them ....this is important i think....for non muslims do u feel uncofortable with these words being said or do u have no problem with it?

i didnt mean that we should stop saying the words but i mean we should stop saying it to people who do not speak the language ...some people really think that for example the word "Allah" dosent mean God and that Allah is a different God ...please dont get me wrong

LoL i know what u mean...both my parents are not Muslim but after while my mom sometimes uses the word Allah instead of God and she even says Praise Allah or Insha'Allah when she is talking to me. With other non-Muslim people who I dont know I say God but after we have established a comfort level I used to word Allah...With my friends who are not Muslim I use the word Allah...People get kinda touchy when I use Arabic words-my dad still does-when I'm explaining Islam but if you are having a religious conversation then people just accept it as the norm.

so correct people when they are wrong.

I totally understand what you're saying--I'm Jewish and people are always telling me I shouldn't speak Hebrew, shouldn't wear my star, shouldn't talk about Jewish things when I'm around non-Jews...but being Jewish is part of who I am just like being Muslim is part of who you are. You shouldn't have to conform to the world's opinion of you--try to change that opinion, do you know what I mean? If people don't understand what the word Allah means, explain it to them, just like I explain to people why I use a dash instead of an o when writing G-d. It makes them nervous, it offends some people, it scares others--but it is a part of me and a part of my faith. Just because some people are ignorant does not mean you should limit yourself--look at it this way: you are broadening their horizon by teaching them a little about your culture.

Shalom, Salaam, Peace

Not at all... Allah, God... the different words for the same concepts... why should I have problems with it?

When we say these words, it is because they make us feel better. It's not because we mean to make anyone feel uncomfortable. I don't think anyone should be offended by that and I don't think we should stop doing it.

honestly in this day and age you are right. I understand that it is not right to stereotype but people only go by what they already know. I personally feel very bad about this but it is sheer ethnocentrism.
