I am 21 years old and am having a major crisis right now cause my hair seems to be coming out in clumps day by day. It started to shed slightly over the summer, and then I was on accutane which can further induce hair loss (which I've been off of now for about a month). Over the past nine months I've watched my once full thick set of hair fall out in clumps and while i still i have 100% coverage it is a shell of what it used to be. You can easily see the hair lines on all sides, theres is an apparent bald spot forming in the back, and the hair line in the front seems to be receding rapidly. It's just so frusturating cause i'm very short, and my head is quite large which is why i never would shave it off even when i was younger cause i knew it would look so bad. Plus both my father in his late 40s and my younger teenage brother have the same type of long thick hair that i don't have and will never go bald. I'm destined to be pretty hideous looking i really am so depressed about it all,

I'm in the same boat mate. Know exactly what you mean and how u feel. but try shortening you hair and keeping short styles and shave off just once when ur used to the short hair to get the feel of how it is. and i'm sure theres a soloution for you if the rest of the family is ok. Its prob stress and the fact you were on mediacation. C a doctor and get ur scalp checked.

For ppl like me who r destined to be bal cause everyman is in my family on both sides! Green tea is meant to help reduce the rate of hairloss and frequent massaging of the scalp with hair oils is meant to good. a lot of ppl say castor oil is also good but a lot of these oils smell so do it when you not out on a weekend I suppose. And what I think happens is it helps circulate blood around the scalp and can give a cooling effect and so skin tightens up and ofcourse adding nutrients where needed.

Also wash ur hair with shampoos that don't have ammonia. This chemical can be seen in the ingredients as ammonium-something or other you'll know when u read it. The more natural the shampoo with less chemicals the better. Wash hair in cool/cold water as heat can open up pores in the skin and making it easy for hair to fall out. and don't use much hair styling products as again- i suppose- contributes to hair falling as ur rubbing/pulling ur hair more and the chemicals involved.

eat and drink heathly as well and keep active. its a good all rounder.

Most of all don't stress this makes it worst for ppl with hair loss. And dotry to be accepting of it cause if it happens it happens you can't do much. You only think you look bad with a shaven head because you always have hair so its the norm for you and most ppl. What you think of as being obscene etc is not its just different, not the usual.

try hard not to stress and i know its easy to say not to stress. Look how easyly I'm writing this knowing tomorrow when I wash and comb my hair I'll be screwing and panicing. Its hard but try not to let i get you down cause it makes it worse.

Firstly go to see your doctor, if he cant help or reassure you he will probably refer you to a dermatologist, if you are still not satisfied don't despair the best thing then to do is to contact a trychologist, these people are expert in dealing with scalp problems and hair loss they will do tests on your hair and scalp to find out the exact cause of why you are losing your hair and will advise treatment according to your own personal hair or scalp condition. They usually run private clinics and I don't know how much they charge, however with these different options open to you it may help to relieve some of the depression that you are feeling to know that your problem probably can be helped and also this may in turn reduce the amount of stress which I am sure you will know causes hair loss. Put the name trichologist onto yahoo or google and you will probably be able to find a clinic near to where you live. Good luck.

Some medicines will do that. My suggestion is to get a good conditioner one at a nice salon.

Other than that, if you are really going bald, I wouldn't worry about it. At 21, it is probably a shocker. But as you grow older, youll be surprised to learn women will still like you. In fact, some women thinks its sexy. And actually the women who like it are really a nice type of woman and they're good looking and usually professional, from what I've seen. The higher the hairline, the higher the intelligence. Think how monks shave their hair. I would say just get a nice hair cut, a nice conditioner, keep grooming yourself nicely (sounds like you take it seriously if you went on A), keep your body fit as well as your mind, and just try to be confident. Women like confidence.

if baldness doesn't run in your family then it's unlikely it's permanent. often medication or stress/trauma can cause temporary hair loss. about 7 years ago i was quite ill in hospital and a few months after leaving my hair started falling out, if you think its a bad look on you hell you shouldve seen me. but once my body readjusted and all the various drugs got out of my system my hair started to grow back and is just as thick as it was. go see your doctor make sure it's not stress related, all this worrying could be making it worse. PS sweetie, I'm sure you would never be hideous xxx

See your doctor. Hair loss can be down to a lot of things. Also try not to stress about it too much as stress can induce hairloss. Being off a drug for 1 month isn't a long time. It can take a long time for it to leave your system.

If all else fails the shave it off. You might think it will look daft but at the end of the day once you get used to it it'll be fine.

The only advice that I can give you is this (1) the more you worry about it the more you seem to loose your hair, because worry causes stress which causes more hair to fall out. It's one dam vicious circle. (2) You should ignore the hair loss then it will seem that you are not losing your hair as fast. Still a lot of women like a man for his personality not how much hair is on his head. If the worst came to the worst just have it all cut off and have your head shaved

Nay my friend......I started losing my hair at an early age 15...and took a while to lose it.....which is worse. Try to shave your head o see how it would REALLY look...Go the gym and bulk up. Grab some confidence and you will feel better. If a few girls don't like you because of your lack of curls....screw them, find one that will....there are some not so shallow women outthere....you can find them if you look......But remember if they don't mind to look past your imperfection you should do also with them (ex: flatchested, Heavy, too tall or too short, etc)

massage ur scalp twice daily with a tiny amount of olive oil or brill cream , the nutients will stimulate the hair growth making it grow back thicker, also try not to over stress about losing ur hair as ur hair will full out quicker from stress. try taking nail and nail vitamins aswell as it can benefit the hair growth. also might be worth going to ur doctors, sometimes hair lose can be brought on by prostrate problems so always worth getting it check out! hope that helps and good luck!
