The entire temple set up was a antiptypical prophetic arrangement
for the typical prophecy to be full filled. So what do I mean?

The garden, holy, and most holy just to mention a few.
The most holy represented the heavens, when the high priest which represented Jesus, entered into the most holy and presented the lamb and sprinkled blood on the alter then consumed by Jehovah God, that represented Jesus as the lamb of God who gave him self and his blood for mankind. Then God raised him up to the heavens as he did the lamb on the alter of the temple.

The Jews didn't understand why they were sacrificing the lamb only up until the beleaving Jews witness his death.

God's people followed the Mosaic law up until Jesus death.

Jesus was the last lamb to be sacrificed and he was now the end of the law and open the way for all mankind not just the Jews for a new covenant or new law. The unbelievig Jews continued to follow the old law and also covered up what happened at the temple.

We know that Jehovah's spirit was no longer with the Jewish nation when they put him to death because the curtain that was around the most holy was split in two and exposed the most holy which only the high priest could enter.

Any one else that tried to enter would be instantly killed.

The curtain was the antitypical entry into the heavens.

.The high priest was the antitypical Jesus Christ.

All of this was to get the nation ready for the comming of Jesus so they would not have any excuse for not beleaving that Jesus was the one fortold to come , the lamb of God.

There's a lot more to this. If you would like more information I can
send you some.
Sincerely yours,

In the old covenant with Abraham animals were sacrificed or killed in a specific way and then prepared by the Temple Priests. The priests would eat the animals and sometimes all the people would enjoy a large feast. The sacrificing could be compared to the religious slaughtering of animals for food.

Muslims still do this without the Temple. I believe it is called Halal.

Without the Temple there can be no properly done sacrifice.

In the new Covenant the body is the Temple. It is a spiritual temple and you are worshiping 24/7, which is why Jesus told us that even thinking about sin is a sin.

In the New Covenant you are always talking to God so ......would you talk to your mother abut one of your sexual fantasies? Sound sinful? Then you get the idea.

Why, then, do we no longer offer animal sacrifices today? Animal sacrifices have ended because Jesus Christ was the ultimate sacrifice. John the Baptist recognized this when he saw Jesus for the first time, "Behold, the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world" (John 1:29). You may be asking yourself, why animals? What did they do wrong? That is the point, in that since the animals did no wrong, they died in place of the one performing the sacrifice. Jesus Christ also knew no wrong but willingly gave Himself to die for the sins of mankind (1 Timothy 2:6). Many people call this idea of dying in place of someone else substitution. Jesus Christ took our sin upon himself and died in our place. As 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, "He (God) made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." Through faith in what Jesus Christ accomplished on the cross, the individual can receive forgiveness.

In summation, the animal sacrifices were commanded by God so that the individual could experience forgiveness of his sins. The animal served as a substitute--that is, the animal died in place of the sinner. Animal sacrifices have stopped with Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was the ultimate sacrificial substitute and is now the only mediator between God and mankind (1 Timothy 2:5). Animal sacrifices foreshadowed Christ’s sacrifice on our behalf. The only basis on which an animal sacrifice could provide forgiveness of sins is the fact that Christ would sacrifice Himself for our sins, providing the forgiveness that animal sacrifices could only illustrate and foreshadow

Animal sacrifices were common way back in the Old Testament times because that is what was pleasing to God. He specifically outlined what was to be sacrificed, how and when and for what purpose. Usually it was for atonement of sins, cleansing, or as a gift to God, like when a child was born the parents would present a sacrifice to God on the eighth day after birth.

This practice is now obsolete since Jesus came and sacrificed His Life for us. We all need to have our sins forgiven to enter Heaven..."All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God" - Romans 3:23, and "While we were sinners, Christ died for US" -Romans 5:8.
When he was crucified, His life provided the atonement for ALL of our sins, for eternity. That is why in scripture before Jesus died, priests never even sat down because they were so busy with all the sacrifices that had to be made...and after he died, it makes mention of a priest sitting down because all the "work" is done. (I'm not sure where it says that...) Anyway, this is how I can understand it. Hope this helps!

The original intent was as a replacment death for the person making the sacrifice. The Passover that Jesus was nailed on the cross was the last time a sacrifice was made because he was the ultimate and final sacrifice to pay for all sins.

How do you know this doesn't happen anymore? What, just because its not broadcasted on television does not mean it doesn't happen. There are groups around the world that still perform animal sacrifices during certain festival seasons.

Certain cults use human sacrifices instead of animals - wait humans are animals.

There are mass murderers who use humans as a sacrifice to achieve their own wishes and goals.

Don't narrow your thinking, people do still kill for their own objectives.

Because that was just a forerunner of what Christ did for us once and for all time. Sacrifices of animals is no longer needed.

Hebrews 10:5-17: "5 Hence when he comes into the world he says: “‘Sacrifice and offering you did not want, but you prepared a body for me. 6 You did not approve of whole burnt offerings and sin [offering].’ 7 Then I said, ‘Look! I am come (in the roll of the book it is written about me) to do your will, O God.’” 8 After first saying: “You did not want nor did you approve of sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sin [offering]”—[sacrifices] that are offered according to the Law— 9 then he actually says: “Look! I am come to do your will.” He does away with what is first that he may establish what is second. 10 By the said “will” we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all time.

11 Also, every priest takes his station from day to day to render public service and to offer the same sacrifices often, as these are at no time able to take sins away completely. 12 But this [man] offered one sacrifice for sins perpetually and sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from then on awaiting until his enemies should be placed as a stool for his feet. 14 For it is by one [sacrificial] offering that he has made those who are being sanctified perfect perpetually. 15 Moreover, the holy spirit also bears witness to us, for after it has said: 16 “‘This is the covenant that I shall covenant toward them after those days,’ says Jehovah. ‘I will put my laws in their hearts, and in their minds I shall write them,’” 17 [it says afterwards:] “And I shall by no means call their sins and their lawless deeds to mind anymore.” 18 Now where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer an offering for sin."

Jesus once and for all time took away the sins of the world. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice and the end to the sacrifice because it was no longer needed for the remission of sins. You cannot offer bulls and goats now for God to forgive your sins. You must now believe in Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.

The Sanhedrin which is the old Jewish Tradition of Synogogue worship will one day again build a Temple and sacrifice animals.
They refuse to believe that Jesus Christ is their Messiah. The bible says their hearts have been hardened until the Gentiles come in.

Because Jesus Christ has come, and He is the ONE sacrifice for sins, no longer do we need the blood of goats and bulls, Jesus poured out His own blood to cover many sins--the sins of those who believe and who will believe....And then Christ rose again on the 3rd day defeating death, so we who believe could live eternally with Him!
It is the New Covenant we have with Jesus Christ!
We are not under the law anymore, but under His grace.
(Ephesians 2:8)
To believers: Hebrews 10:10
And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Romans 3:25
God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—

Animal sacrifices were a temporary part of the old testament Levitical Priesthood and Temple Worship System, which Jesus completely fulfilled and set aside.

The only sacrifice for sin in these new covenant times is Jesus himself, the one time, once for all, perfect and eternal sacrifice.
