I'm wanting to start some seedlings and wanting to know if anyone knows how to make a very small affordable green house. I have a large wire bakers rack in my kitchen that I can put a light on top. What light would be best if I can do this? Can I also put my seedlings outside somehow if I can use the proper light and cover? We have limited kitchen window space. Thanks for any replies......

I'm not sure how to incorporate your bakers rack, but I'd recomend making some cold frames. They're essentialy boxes with glass tops, you can even use old windows as the top and put hinges on them for easy access to everything. A great publication, and pretty decent website, is Mother Earth News, it has tons of info for people who are living lightly, growing things...all that good stuff. They probably even havr blueprints for coldframes and green houses. If you want to start them inside, just use whatever container and cover them with a clear lid of some sort-saran wrap, glass, tupperware...the key thing is moisture.

Clear Plastic and some 1/2 inch pvc pipe. You can use fittings if you want a rectangular shape or you can bend the pipe into an upside down U . Wrap the end of the plastic sheeting around the pipe and use plastic wire ties to hold the plastic in place. I use cheap shop lights with 48inch daylight bulbs and I leave them on 24/7 until I move them outside. If you want to put the greenhouse outdoors your plastic will have to be doubled to provide a space of at least 1/2inches between layers for insulation.

There are more operating nuclear power plants in the United States than there are in France. So what is the temporary dangerous quick fix solution to which you refer? As each year passes nuclear research finds methods which are safer than the original plants operations and controls that reduce the operating danger of plants in existence.
