Personally, I think having 2 kids is better than having just one kid. Some only children get bored and lonely at home. Having more than one child also teaches them to share!

It doesn't matter, I have an only child. She had plenty of friends to play with, she was in day care, as well as preschool. We lived in a neighborhood whre there were kids of all ages. We set rules and we stuck with them. She grew up happy, healthy about as well adjusted as any other young woman, she is in college, carries a 4.0 GPA, is in student government, has an active social life, works part time and has been appointed a seat on city council...and she just turned 21 in January...She is well liked, and respected by not only her peers but her elders as well as those younger than herself. She respects others and treats most everyone well...unless they treat her badly, then she ignores them. Yeah she grew up spoiled rotten.
From a paretns point of view...the advantage of an only child...NO SIBLING RIVALRY...NO TATTELING

Think about the future. Your child will really appreciate having a sibling.

I would say two. It gives you a chance to have moments to yourself now and also give the kids a lifetime friend.
