That is another one of the contradictions of Muhammad. Because Muhammad adopted a black slave boy that his wife Kadijah gave him,as his own son. Then Muhammad changed his mind, and said adoption is illegal.after Muhammad forced his adopted son to divorce his wife so Muhammad could marry her himself.

No it is certainly not unlawful. Adoption it not common because all extended family member look after a child that its parents have died. If there is a case of adoption it is perfectly legal and lawful in Islam. The only difference being you cannot give an adopted child your last name. This is for two man reasons, so that there is no confusion about the child's heritage and linage and so that in the future there is no chance of marrying a sibling. That is the only difference the last name nothing else.

Adoption is NOT haram. In fact, it is highly recommended. The prophet himself said that anyone who adopts an orphan (takes care of them and raises them well) is "like this" to him on the day of judgement-he was holding up hid index and middle fingers next to each other.Alhamdulillah! The only thing we are not allowed to do is change the child's name...The lineage must always be known to everyone, so the child must maintain their last name they were born with at least, if not their first name as well...Allahu aalam!

Adoption is not unlawful in islam, in fact the Quran says we should take care of orphans, it is a duty. In islamic soceity, everyone carries their fathers' name....everyone knows their bloodline, so you just cant give an adoptee your last name. Dont read too much into it. The adoptee should carry their father's last name.

This is incorrect my friend, adoption is very important and Islam and the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him was himself an Orphan raised by his Uncle Abu Talib

Here are some hadith (sayings of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him about orphans)

(V.107:2) Narrated Sahl bin Sa'd [May God be pleased with him]: The Prophet [Peace Be Upon Him] said, "I and the person who looks after an orphan and provides for him, will be in Paradise like this," putting his index and middle fingers together. [Sahih Al-Bukhari, 8/6005 (O.P.34)]

(V.53:39) Narrated Abû Hurairah [May God be pleased with him]: God's Messenger [Peace Be Upon Him] said, "When a person is dead, his deeds cease (are stopped) except from three:
a) Deeds of continuous Sadaqah (act of charity), e.g. an orphan home (orphanage) or a well for giving water to drink.
b) (Written) knowledge with which mankind gets benefit.
c) A righteous, pious son (or daughter) who begs God to forgive his (or her) parents."
[Sahih Muslim, The Book of Wasâyâ (Wills and Testaments)]

Peace Be With You

No. What they won't allow is 'Muslim' children being brought up by non-Muslims (which means that if a Muslim man married to a non-Muslim woman dies, any children are taken away from her).
