What could I put in my steam cleaner to get rid of the smell of cat urine?

Everyone is right vinegar is the best thing you can purchase in a store. I do not believe it gets all the smell out. I cleaned carpets and what I learned was you need a chemical to breakdown the urine to get rid of smell. You might want to call a carpet cleaner and ask if you can purchase a small bottle. 4 oz. should be more than enough. Other thing to do is to saturate area and suck (extract the urine water) out before cleaning with vinegar solution. Happy cleaning.

OK forget putting something in your steam cleaner but I know this works go to bed bath & beyond and buy urinegone kit that has a blacklight with it and it has instructions, I swear it works then clean your carpets. My cat peed in my car and I took it to car washes and to a professional carpet cleaner, nothing worked I almost traded cars and then I found this stuff, it took the odor out in one spray. I swear by it. there is a website for it that you can order it online too just google urinegone
