They can pull you over if any of a vehicle's original equipment lights are out. Most places will give you a repair order that you either get a mechanic or law officer to sign, states that the problem has been repaired. You can then mail this in to the court address and the violation is thrown out.

Hope this helps :-)

A taillight out is a legitimate excuse to follow you; however, if you didn't have a tail light out they would likely use the excuse of "not wearing a seatbelt / wearing a seat belt improperly" even if you were, as there is no real way to prove it. Bottom line is a cop can pull you over for any reason at any time. If you ever suspect it is not for a legit reason, dial *77 on your cell phone to contact the State police and tell them you do not feel comfortable pulling over in a remote area and will go to the nearest populated area. The State police will then check out if a cop is trying to pull you over and if it is legit. If it is a real cop, it puts him on notice that someone else knows what he is up to. If not a real cop, the State cops will tell you and direct you what to do from there.

Posing as a police officer is unlawful so make sure that you do record it.

In most states, I believe they can but usually they will give you a warning, though, and not a ticket. Some of them don't bother unless you are doing something pretty suspicious. Replace the lamp.

THEY CAN PULL YOU OVER JUST FOR LOOKING SUSPICIOUS. BUT IF YOU WERE COOL WITH HIM, HE SHOULD OF LET YOU OFF WITH A WARNING. IF HE DIDN'T, I'D GET A LAWYER AND FIGHT IT. THEY WILL THROW IT OUT OF COURT.

yes, of course they can, most likely he was just running your plate to see if there were any warrants, or watching you inside th car to see ifyou looked like you were "hiding" something.
