I was wanting to change it up a bit this weekend and stray away from my normal drinks to try something new.

Thing is there are SO many different kinds of mixed drinks and some are just too much work/money for a poor college kid such as myself.

Any suggestions on good, easy and cheap to make mixed drinks? (besides a screwdriver)

Under $15 (if you buy the Noily Prat dry vermouth or vodka that are in 375ml size):
1/3 Noilly Prat dry vermouth
2/3Gin or vodka
Olive or peel of lemon for garnish
Combine the ingredients either chilled or room temperature and enjoy

Martini about $25 ( buy Malbiu rum in 750ml and vanilla flavored vodka in 375ml):
1 ¼ ounce Malibu Coconut rum
1 ¼ ounce vanilla vodka
½ once lime juice (if you don’t want to buy lime juice, instead take a lime and using strainer squeeze the juice out)
In ice- filled mixing glass, combine ingredients and shake vigorously. Then strain into a martini glass and enjoy!
If you still have some Malbiu leftovers, you can now make Pina Colada for about $6:
½ cup of Malibu
¾ cup pineapple juice
1 cup of Pina colada mix , or ½ cup of canned cream of coconut, or the Bacardi Pina colada mixer that you can find in frozen section
2 cups of crushed ice
place the ingredients in a blender and blend until it’s thick and smooth. You can garnish it with lemon peel, pine apple, cherry or strawberry

My current favorite is champagne (can be a cheap kind, like Korbel) with sorbet. Raspberry is particularly good, but passion fruit or peach are also delightful.

You can buy a very small bottle of creme de cassis (black current liquor) and add 1 oz to a glass of cheap white wine, preferably a sauvingnon blanc, for an extremely popular French drink called Kir. Or add the cassis to champagne for a Kir Royal.

Amaretto sours are also tasty. Equal parts amaretto to sour mix over ice.

French martinis are great and fruity if you want a girly cocktail. Just one shot of vodka, 1/2 a shot of chambord and 3 shots of pineapple juice. Shake and double strain to serve straight up.
