It's like a house of cards. One breath of reality, away from blind faith, and the whole thing comes crumbling down.

Unfortunately organized religion is afraid of being questioned due to possibility of loss of followers. With a loss of followers, that decreases the revenue that they bring in and would reduce the overall profitability of this huge multinational non-taxed business. And I do realize that religious people will want to complain about this answer, but before complaining or giving me thumbs down, look on-line at the financial statements from churches or diocese in the US and you will see the offensive amounts of money they make.
Organized religion is founded on people not questioning, just believing. When it is questioned, it is like a lit candle and a breeze, it just cannot survive. I have even noticed on YA, that when religion is questioned, the religious followers gang up against the person asking the question or answering against the religion. My position is that organized religion is afraid to be questioned as it would loose its money, property and influence on people. Religion has been around since the beginning of time to explain natural occurrences, however very quickly the smart corrupt people noticed it controlled the people's minds. And if that is not the case, then why would Jesus have said "that it is easier for a camel to fit through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter heaven"? If that is the case, then there are a bunch of religious people never getting into heaven. But that also keeps the poor masses down where the rich want them, and keeps the poor not wanting to move from their position in society. The poor would therefore not be envious of the rich, etc and so reduced uprisings. Why would Jesus have wanted people to stay poor and eating dirt? It makes no sense, well the only thing that makes sense is that it was written to control people. Religion has controlled the masses since the beginning of time. The Christian church has had so many rumbles with emperors and kings in Europe over who had control over the people that it is quite self evident. And nothing has changed. In Canada, when the politicians went to allow gay marriage, the Roman Catholic church threatened to excommunicate any Roman Catholic politician who voted for the allowing of gay marriage. Now that is gutsy and showing their true nature of wanting to have that control back.

This is not intended to insult any religious people, just my experiences and thoughts. Just so that the Christian mafia will back off.

I have no problem with being questioned, but I have to look at what you call objective scrutiny with a sceptical eye.

Most of the questions targeted at Christians are about proving that God exists, and our believing fairy tales, that is not objective scrutiny.

Why would you post your question in the religion and spirituality page?

I KNOW!!

It's because you really are looking for answers.

It's because God draws you here.
John 6:44
"No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day."

John 10:29
"My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand."

Christianity has stood to the best and most rigorous examination of almost any discipline. Textual criticism in particular has proven the content of the Bible.

When the Dead Sea Scroll we found, the scholars expected to find huge variations in the texts unearthed there, and the texts we have in our Bibles. The variations amounted to spelling errors and onomonopedia that changed no doctrines and challenged a relatively minor few verses.

They expected Isaiah to be on at least two seperate scrolls, but of all the copies of Isaiah found, none were split as they expected. One, the Copper Scroll, was written on, YES, copper with a scribe and hammer; indeed the fingerprints of the artist that made it were found on that scroll.

DNA of the scribes that did the work has been extracted from the scrolls, and we may someday know who they actually were, or at least who their great-great-great (how many greats are needed to cover 2,500 years?) grand children are.

Fraud? Only in the modern TV preachers that tell you that you will get rich quick if only you will send them your offerings as "seed money."

Mark 1:15
and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel."

I think it's because some people really value their faith, and if just one think within that is wrong, it throws them off and makes them question the whole thing, which can really throw ppl off, especially if they are really dependent on it and it's a main source of strength and pride, etc., etc., That's my best guess?? I don't really know, I'm just kind of floating around out there as far as religion goes :P

No one likes to have to answer a question without a concrete answers. Especially when the logic is cyclical in nature. You can't define God with out saying "well he is God".
