There are a number of modern druidic organizations - OBOD, BDO, ADF, Henge of Keltria... they've all got training programs to teach you what they think makes someone a druid.

However, as Chris J said, traditional training to be a druid was a 20-year process, involving a *lot* of memorization. Most of the material was lost. And, frankly, there's a number of modern Celtic Pagans who question if we even need druids any more, since we can get along okay without them.

I'd recommend checking out the info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celtic_reconstructionist_paganism - if nothing else, it'll explain some of the discussion over use of the title, and provide some good sources to look at for material.

20 years of apprenticeship. to a Druid.
training in the Bardic knowlege of the history of the Celtic People
Training in the legal system of the Celtic People.
And training to make a personell connection with the gods of the Celtic Pantheon.

because there are very few that are of this ancient tradition it is hard to become a Druid in the traditional sense.

OBOD (order of bards ovates and druids ) offers a course in the bardic legal and spiritual training and does present you with a druid cirtificate.

however what i think that you are more interested in is the spirituality of the celts. many of us call ourselves Celtic Pagans.
and to become one, you simply ask the gods of the celts to take you into their protection and offer them your service.

it is a lot of study. (history, other religions. etc. ) and a lot of time spent in meditation learning to form a connection tothe gods. once this connection is formed they will instruct you as to the best way to worship them.

my Patron is Cerunuuos. the horned god and the god of the hunt.
however there are many gods,(300 or more) that may guide you.

read what you can, learn everything that you can. connect with the gods. and do not fear adoption of the practices of other religions. Yoga/ Zen/ fung shui, all of these concepts can help you. do what your spirit leads you to do. and one day somebody will ask you to teach them what you know. when they call you a druid then you are a Druid.

titles are given not taken. and seldom recieved when asked for.

Simple. Close your eyes and chant "I am a druid" three times in a loud voice. When you open your eyes you'll be a druid. This works for neo-paganism and witchcraft too. Enjoy.
