21 yrs. ago and they can't forget that mistake you made? Sometimes I wonder what makes people think that they are "Holier than Thou", is beyond me,The Bible tells us that look at the twig you have in your eye and then look at the one your brother, has, meaning that we should not be pointing fingers at any one because nobody is perfect, is so true. If you and your Husband are Happy together, let them wag their tongues all they want, you concentrate on making each other Happy, and do not pay any attention to your In-laws do not let them make your life miserable and I am sure they will get tired of it and will try to find someone else to talk about. I hope that with time this will pass and you will be able to forget all this unpleasantness, you are experiencing. I care.

First, you've got to realize that blood is thicker than water. So when it came to talking a little smack about your sister in laws, I don't care how long they've hated each other, you just gave them common ground. And regardless of how one may feel about the other, they can say what they want but when it comes to someone else saying it then it's a big no,no. I have 3 sisters and I can say what I want about them but nobody else better :-) You say that you love your husband and you don't want to leave him over something like this...then don't. You're married to him, not his family. Yeah I know that we have to take on extra when it comes to in laws, but when it's all said and done, it's only about you, your husband, and your beautiful daughter. Don't let crazy, trash talking in laws cause you your own family. If your husband wants to deal with them then he has every right...but you don't have too. At least not in a close way. Begin to distance yourself from them. It may be stressful with the weddings coming up but as wives we've learned how to cope with any situation and this shouldn't be any different. God Bless You.

Some people's families think of it as a big deal for women to date multiple guys from the family or vice versa. The golden rule (for a lot of people, me included) is that you don't date brothers, uncles/nephews, grandfather/grandson and so on but that dosn't make it necessarily wrong.
I don't think there's anything you can do to change their mind except be the best wife/mother you can be and it might help if your husband and his uncle put in a good word for you too.
Maybe the uncle isn't over it and he says bad things to the family about you. Just be a loving wife and I hope it all works out for you.

Well I could be for a number of things. One some families are extremely close and have sort of a unspoken rule about not dating or in your case getting Married to someone that dated another family member. The best way is to sit them all down to resolve it

That's just the way some people are. My husband's family hates me too (although he tries to hide that from me). Just accept that they will never accept you at this point, and be thankful that your husband loves you. Just make sure you don't let them say things to you that are mean. If they do, have your husband tell them to stop. It's his duty to stand up for you here.

Do you think that maybe keeping it in the family is kind of ODD??? And besides the obvious,,,did you ever do anything bad to the uncle?
My sisters mother in law married a guy, they had a son, they split up, then she got with HIS brother and had two more kids.
*Is there a shortage of men out there or what?

Some people just don't know how to accept things. As a good family they should support your husband because they love him.
My dads parents don't like my mom a whole lot but what can you do. They won't be around much longer. Try to ignore it!
