The cross is not an instrument of torture it is an instrument of execution. Though people who were crucified were tortured its primary purpose was execution. I never heard of anyone who survived being crucified and saying boy that cross was torture.

We Christians do. Us Catholics even put a corpse on the instrument of torture. Thank you Lord Jesus for accepting this torture that happened to you for our sakes. O most holy heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore you, I love you, and with a deep sorrow for my sins, I offer you this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure, and wholly obedient to your word. Amen

Without the cross, I would have no hope for eternal life in heaven.
Jesus said He had the power to lay down His life and He had the power to raise it up. His blood was shed on that cross for me and you.
