Bollocks - I've drunk too much wine to answer this sensibly. There's something to do with no absolute space as a reference point for motion - so the Wittgenstein quote is right (but it sounds a bit Pragmatist for Ludwig).

Not exactly. If you consider the earth to be a stationary frame of reference then the rest of the universe could be considered to be rotating around the earth. However the earth cannot be considered to be stationary because the earth is accelerating due to its rotation. Rotation is a form of acceleration which generates measurable forces. Thus the earth is not stationary and not all the motion we observe can be relative motion.

It's all a matter of perspective. If you lived on the fourth planet from Betelguese (sp?), you'd think the rest of the universe revolved around your "earth". I'm sure God designed it this way on purpose...

No one believes this. It is true however that no matter where you are in the universe you are always at the exact center relative to your own space/time.
