When did we stop being vegetarians by decree? I believe it's in Genesis 4.

Thank you, it's much appreciated! =)

Gen 9:3 "Every creature that is alive shall be yours to eat; I give them all to you as I did the green plants."

Originally, man was given a vegan diet until after the flood. The first time that God gave anyone permission to eat flesh foods was in Genesis 9:3. I believe that some people had began the practice of eating animals before the flood and that this contributed the evil that God had seen and for which He caused the flood to happen.

The account is at Genesis 9:1-7. By divine permission, meat could serve as food for man. God added only one stipulation - which concerned the blood of the animal.

This permission was given right after the flood.

I don't have my Bible in front of my so the chapter in Genesis I'm note sure of. But it is after the great flood. After the waters resided and Noah let the animals off the arc, God gave Noah and his family permission to eat meat. But you'll have to read through Genesis or Exodus for more detail. Because God also told them that there are clean and unclean animals. Animals with cloven hoof and non-cloven hoofs, and sea animals with fin and without fins, etc. That's why Jews still don't eat pig and such. Sorry, thats' all I can tell you without my Bible in front of me. You can go to the Bible online now while you are on your computer and look up clean and unclean animals or allowed meats. Good luck on your test!

There was never a decree written in the bible. But it is generally accepted that they began to eat meat after the fall.

More like Genesis 9....after the flood, God gave Noah and his descendents permission to eat meat....just not meat torn from a live animal.
