Get off of the computer. Grab your school book. Start Reading it. After you read it look at the chapter summaries. After you do this. repeat. THink of possible questions that could possibly be on your test and answer them.

First, take a deep breath and calm down! :)

(BTW--I am a historian--so I should have some useful input!)

The key is to get organized. Here's a good--and effective way--to do that. Take each chapter of the textbook you are responsible for one at a time and do the following:
List the main items in the chapter. You can get these main points from one of 4 sources (or a combination of them):
1)a studyguide, if your teacher has provided one
2) your own notes
3) the section headings in the chapter
4) any lists of important points and/or terms at the back of the chapter and the chapter outline at the beginning of the chapter, if any.
Don't worry about it if you don't have all these--I'm just listing all the options to be sure I cover one or more that you do have.

Next (WRITE THIS OUT BY HAND--AND DO IT NEATLY SO YOU CAN READ IT EASILY). Write a key word or two--at most a sentance--defining/explaining what the particular term/topic is about.

When you get done doing this for all the chapters/material, you should have list (several pages) of terms/topics, toghether with their definitions/meanings. Maybe 50-60 items (a very ball park guess, since Idon't know what material you are responsible for).

The test is tomorrow--and doing htis will take a couple of hours. But here's how this works:
First, by going through this process, including writhing things down, you are also getting all the key information organized in your mind. And writing it down will help you remember it.
2) You will have a "quick referance guide" that you can read over several times in the morning, refreshing an dreinforcing your memory.

Good Luck! :)

what you really should do is take notes on whatever your studying not just reading it because the more you read the more you will forget the details of what you read first
-don't study for long periods, study for 20 mins then stop for 5-10 then go back, this allows the stuff you read to sink inn

-look at the key concepts, important events and important people usually they will be listed on the front of each chapter

- if u really wanna do good wake up the morning of the test and review the notes you made before

-the problem with stuff not sinking in is that your trying to take in too much at once, read over an important event or persons biography and take quick notes for 20 mins then stop and move on to another important concept

My teacher tought me instead of just reading what you're studying right some of it down. Most of it is probably not going to be on the test anyway. She's probably just trying to scare you.Calm down and just take some time.Make sure you take atleast 45 minutes on you're test.Good luck!!And by the way i hate history too.

what always helps me is to get up really early on the day of the test, eat a goodbreakfast, and then study. your mind is more refreshed when you do that. it doesnt mean you shouldnt study the day before, though.

you can make acronym's to help you remember stuff, like china beat japan in 1820...do CBC 1820, so you just have to remember the little rhyme and number or you can do stuff where the letters match up to say them like englands-eggs, remember ...thats what i do sometimes, hope it helps...

Make note cards. Put important concepts on each card. One card for each battle and one card for each general.
