Most people aren't stupid, they just get busy with other things and don't think about things like maybe they ought to.

I'm sure the guy in IT who helped me unlock my computer thought I was stupid because I input the wrong password three times in a row and got locked out; but then I've got eight different functions on my computer that require passwords, and I'm worried about my father, for whom I am the primary caregiver. So I just wasn't thinking-- about passwords. I was thinking of my father. Result: IT guy probably thinks I'm a moron.

I think that a lot of what we pass judgement on as stupidity is probably more a lack of focus. And I think it's better to give people at least some benefit of the doubt before declaring them stupid. We all have those humbling moments when we find ourselves doing something that someone would consider stupid, if they saw us.

Personally, the only things I would declare stupid are things done deliberately that do harm to people. Cheating on a loving spouse is stupid. Doing something that takes money or resources away from people who really need it is stupid. Hurting people who are helpless to defend themselves (e.g., small children, elderly, etc.) is stupid.

I think on normal, everyday things, it's best to give people a "pass" if what they do harms no one else.

since we are not all alike, some of us need a bit of guidance from people that would take the time to spend some time associating with people that are not their peers , and not feel that we are superior to some .

We cannot be all gifted with intelligence! otherwise we would not need the help of anyone since we would know everything that it is needed to be perfect! Some people are stubborn and really do not care about improving themselves, and some are unfortunate not to have had to opportunity to learn, but yet in some ways menage to live honestly into a society that at times doesn't respect them because of their job or income or even race. who are we to pass judgement? Are we the ones that would go out of our way to help them if they need help? if they have language barrier or an accent? Perhaps if we took the time to care enough about people that surround us in our daily life then we would have a different opinion.

The essential thing missing from society is class and style. It would seem that you should have a closer network fo friends that you regard as "Intellectual". These people are not stupid, these people are the ones that know more about a subject than the teacher. So don't use sunlight to decide who is stupid, we all live under the same sun but also have our own unique qualities.

I think people who are stupid usually only care about themselves and don't stop to think about how their actions or words affect those around them. I also think the some people just can't help it they are just stupid by nature, just like some people have blue eyes.
As far as people being stupid you should give them the benefit of the doubt if you first met them and hope it is just an off day or give them a second chance.

I know you "ment" "people" when you wrote "pople," but it seems as though you might be able to answer your own question.

What I always wonder, as I read through the Yahoo! Q & A, is why so many people appear to be illiterate? ....... or maybe, out of kindness, I should ask: Why don't more folks actually re-read their queries before hitting "submit" ?

Stupidity comes from ignorance; then who is to judge what is considered stupidity? Your question lacks, detail as to why you are assuming people are stupid what is your reason. Also, noting the mi-spelling in your question almost makes you look hypercritical don't you think especially since there is a spell check option! If someone who has aggravated you; it would be stupid to dwell on it instead of just get past it!

They are stupid because they come from the gene swamp or they are in a hurry and do not take a moment to engage their brains or use spell check.

What in the hell is a pople? It sounds like "pot hole". Is that what you ment? Or did you mean people, and you were just giving us a good example?

As people develop from the womb, some get smart, some get stupid. It's just the luck of the genes & chromosones you are given from your parents. If your family comes from money & wealth, chances are you will be smart. If your family is locked up, on welfare, drugs, criminals, homeless, etc., then chances are you will be stupid too. Get it? If you don't, then you are, "Stupid."
