Why did you convert to another religion? If you were a Christian/Jew then why did you convert to a Muslim? If you were a Muslim then why did you convert to a Christian or anything of that nature???

Oh and please dont just say that your previous religion was full of hate, violence, discrimination and etc and that your current religion is all about love, peace, and forgiveness like this one "Op3nMinded" person. Please provide details to why you had converted.

OH and if you were an Athiest then why did you start believing in God, or if you were a believer then why did you become an Athiest?

I used to be really anti-Catholic, like quite a few of the regulars in this section. To prove Catholicism false to a Catholic acquaintance who really knew his faith, I had to study Catholicism more and more deeply. Well, the deeper I went, the more convinced I became that Catholicism wasn't false at all, but indeed the One True Faith! That was pretty hard to stomach at first, but eventually I did convert to Catholicism.

I converted to neopaganism because of the ignorant beliefs of the churches in my area. As a child you are protected from that part. But as a free thinking adult, I found out that while the people around me went to church a couple of times a week, they were sometimes the worst of people the rest of the week. Gossiping, drinking, backstabbing. I know that everyone does this, but christians preach against this type of behavior, and I was always seeing my fellow church goers do these things. As a pagan, my spirituality is practiced all the time. I believe in the spirits of the elements, and I believe in God. I just don't believe in the way every Christ/God based faith has twisted the word of God to suit the way they want to live.

i don't know if i converted but i know that i don't believe in the christian faith like most. So i guess in a way i converted to my own christianity. Why because world religions are so twisted and personified that they're man made fairy tales and while the stuff in them may have been true once upon a time that ain't the case no more.

I know a woman who totally converted her, then, boyfriend who was an ardent and scientifically knowledgeable atheist to the point where he, now, is a totally committed, converted, Roman Catholic who goes to Church at least once a week, reads the Bible every day, and is totally involved with the Catholic community.
Long story short (and, believe me, it's a very long story), he was willing to do what she asked of him and it all started with daily prayers, with him participating, that "God will come to you", etc. Then she engaged him in Bible reading where they'd discuss what they read. At the same time he had to go to Church every time she did (you should see him now, goes with her AND without her!). After a little over a year of this she actually hired a religiously fanatical hypnotist and after many sessions extending over a few months (for free!) that clinched it, he began seeing and hearing God, etc. Finally, he enrolled in those RCIA classes and was baptized a Catholic. They, then, married...in a Roman Catholic church.
He doesn't even bother with science now except as a way to re-convince him of his faith. It was totally amazing to me and his other friends who he now tries to convert also! At least they are the happiest couple I know. :)

I was an atheist before I was Wiccan, and I became Wiccan because I had a personal revelation of the divine which led me to think atheism was not the right belief set for me.
Since my deities gave me no evidence appropriate for anyone other than myself, I converted but did not try to convince others they were wrong.

It did teach me to never assume that people follow things I didn't understand for no reason at all.
