I was thinking of taking this proposal to the City Council. Not like it is a serious problem, but it is a matter of respect to the families and ancestors of the deceased.
My proposal is to make it an infraction, a Five Hundred dollar fine per person "investigating", second and more offense(s), $1000 fine per person and a day in jail.

I agree in general . Cemetaries are not for goofing off in. Law would have to be much more defined though. Who decides what is a ghost hunter vs a true mourner vs. drunk kids screwing around? I don't what to type for 20 minutes so I hope you get my point.

Most cemeteries are private property anyway. They either belong to a church, county, or whatever. There should be a No Trespassing ordinance in effect. Ask at your City Clerk's office,or go to your local library and look up your town's ordinances.

Do these "Ghost Hunters" desecrate graves or in general reek havoc? I think all cemetery gates should be closed and locked at dusk to protect against that. Fining people-I don't know. They are committing Malicious Mischief and that already is fine able.

Sounds like a waste of city resources to spend time on it. But if your town needs some free publicity it might be a good idea. They say all publicity is good publicity after all.

I would agree with that. You would think that most people would feel they should respect the deceased but i guess not. Even if it isn't a problem where you live, I don't see how it wold hurt.

Can I be honest. It's silly. Or do you have a town that swamps the local resting place?

If it is disruptive kick them out but fines are really not necessary!
