I have long layered hair that falls at my chest and side swept bangs. My hair is insanely thick and straight. I would like to get my hair cut shorter, but still long enough to pull up and do different things to it and i would like to keep some sort of bang. Does anyone have any good hairstyles that would make my hair less poofy (pictures would be great).

I think you should get a shoulder length blunt cut with side swept bangs. No layers. This way you could pull it up or back when you want during summer months. If your hair is straight and thick, then you have to use hairstyles that will compliment your type of hair and the style I recommended is great for straight, thick hair. Don't fight the type of hair you have...work with the texture of your hair. Also go to a good hairstylist who will look at your bone structure and give you a designer styling for a few extra dollars.

Also, use a hair serum to straighten hair and take out any frizz after washing your hair and before blow drying it. Also, don't use very hot blow dryer...actually use cool setting. It will stop the poofy look you hate. Use Frizz Ease hair serum. It is great. Also, Samy products on HSN or in CVS Drugs are great products too. Also Jonathan products on QVC Shopping Network. They are expensive but fabulous. Good Luck

not to sound cliche but go with the friends look long layers with shorter hair. The long layers will take some of the weight off making it less poofy unless your hair is curly this would make it worse. They will also enable you to still pull it back.

i would grow out the bangs and just shorten the hair. i had the same problem, and to give my hair more "bang" i trimmed it, grew out my hair, and part my hair to the side now instead of in the middle. try that.

Have your stylist thin it when you get it cut. I have to have my hair thinned all the time because it is so thick. Other then that, just choose a style you like.

I recomend Iveta Klimesova's haircut. I just cut mine like that, and it looks good. I can put scarfs and barrets in it. You can see in this months issue of Cosmo girl.
