well the older mac os used to be a lot different than windows, but the new ones arnt much different you will just have to get used to navigating. the windows are different, the layout is different, the menus are a lot different, but all basically similar, just organized differently and different options. You wont know where to look for things. If you have been using windows for a long time a mac will probably drive you crazy.

Windows operating systems are 98,ME, 2000, XP, and Vista. They are just different in size mostly. XP being the most popular right now. Mac is a totally different kind of computer and has its own OS. So if you are happy with your computer and it does all the things you want then I highly recommend keeping it.

Your question is too broad to answer here without writing a book.
I will offer you a piece of advice though. As you aren't very computer savvy, i recommend that you stick with the PC format. I suggest that because it's much easier to get help from friends, etc, with the PC than with the MAC. Software is also much more readily available for PC.
The MAC is more attractive to people who use their machines for design or graphics, and really isn't needed to do basic computing, as you do.

In general use there is no difference between them. some people like windows for its easy use and many software available for it. some others like Linux for it's free source and security. because you are not a proffesional computer user (a programmer, designer,...) choose one that is best to your ideas. I myself use Windows x64 edition and i'm very happy with it
