The Passion of the Christ?
Yes or No? Why or why not?

I'm not a Sunday School teacher, I do not have a child in Sunday School. It was just a question out of curiousity. Wasn't it nice to at least answer a question that wasn't "Am I pregnant?" "Does My Kid Have ADD/ADHD? And for the record the R ratings are NOT laws [look it up] they are guidelines. It's up to each indivual movie theater to decide if they enforce it or not.

Depends on the age and the service it is being shown in.

I wouldn't show it during bible study to children under 12... but I might offer to show it on a weds night program for kids 15+.
Personally, I didn't think it too gory at all... and having worked in a video store I know most kids have seen way more gory crap than that (most long before the rated age).

If you wish to show a movie on this topic for a church program (IE: Sunday School), there have been several made for younger audiences; mostly they are animated.

IMHO it should be seen .... but it needs to have someone who really understands the bible ready to answer questions b/c there are some "creative" license taken in it by Mel Gibson.

I'm a youth group leader and a middle school Sunday school teachers. No way would I show it to my middle schoolers. It is much too graphic. Yes, it probably depicts pretty well what Christ went through, but that doesn't mean it's appropriate for children, there is a very good reason it was rated R. Now, the high school kids, I'd be OK with them seeing it, if their parents said it was OK.

Depends on the age group and maturity level. We let the 7th graders and up watch it but younger we wouldn't. It was a little too graphic for some of the 7th and 8th graders.
They do have a children's version - it's animated and not so graphic with things such as his death.

I would definately check with the parents before showing it. It is rated R for a reason.

No. I would not recommend it to younger children, but to teens yes. Also Rated R means 17 or older and the movie theaters are suppose to ID for all rated R and make sure that an adult is accompaning the minor to the film.

To violent and bloody for children. Nice thought though.

Maybe download all of Kent Hovinds videos and show them instead? Each is like 2 hrs long, 7 in the series, all free on http://www.drdino.com. Can also find them on YouTube and Google Videos.

He is an ex school teacher who became a preacher and he really gives answers in simple laymen terms that anyone can understand. He even goes over dinosaurs and where they belong in the Bible and Ark, etc.

Or maybe go over his real name, YAHWEH, YHWH, and find files and videos explain it all. Specially since Bibles removed his name and most churches won't go over it. Be a good lesson.

You stated they did no longer so why are you asking this question such as you do no longer even comprehend? Many church homes don't have those, so are they undesirable on your eyes, or do you desire to in simple terms practice a bias physique of ideas in the direction of the Jehovah's Witnesses? EDIT: Did I say she became? She already expressed her hate in the direction of the business enterprise the day previously immediately, and one among her comments stated that Jehovah's Witnesses do no longer care approximately infants and that they don't have those infants communities ect. i'm no longer being rude, i'm in simple terms pointing out the very fact.

No

They should not because it is rated R. High school students aren't legally allowed to see rated R movies. That movie is to mature for young kids. I also think that should be talked to by the childrens parents.

Often if there is a doubt, the parents are asked or given permission forms to sign.

However, its a movie, its Hollywood, not God or Bible or Church.

So I personally say no.

I am not raising my kids in church, but when (and if)I find one that I am comfortable raising my kids in, I don't want Hollywood, which is about $$$, $$$, $$$, and nothing else, trying to teach them religion.

No. Too violent. Just because it's about Christ doesn't mean it's appropriate for children. Children wouldn't have been witnessing the original version, all those years ago.

No. I think it's too adult. But I guess it depends on how old the kids in the sunday school class are.
