I need to make a drive cross-country in a month, and none of my friends or family are available that week to do it with me. I really don't want to drive alone, so what are my options for finding a reliable and responsible individual to drive with me? Where should I go to find someone? I am willing to pay for the gas and part of the plane ticket back, if applicable.

Go to your city or nearest one- then click on ride shares
You can browse through rides wanted or post your own
for free.
Just make sure of course you get all information about that person - maybe meet for coffee before and discuss route and expenses in advance and get it in writing.

try craiglist. select a city, check rideshare under community.
