Its my cute and happy pet, but he continues to bark when I am home, to tell me he is protecting me I think. I have tried speaking quietly and repeadedly, rewarding him when he stops, calling him to come and keeping him occupied and ignoring him, but he still thinks he is a great watcher and warns the birds, trees sky etc, that he is there and I am safe!!!
He is 2 years now, and I even gor him desexed to try and stop the dominant behaviour. He gets attention positive every day and walked etc, I don't know what else to do
I hear my neighbors shout at him to shut up and I agree, it is driving all of us crazy, where can I send him, who would want him?

have you tried to make him give in? when he starts barking dont say no and scream at him or talk to him in full lenght sentences but take him by the collor and pat his but to sit then make him lay down and stay there once he has stayed he has giving in and relizes you are the dominant one. dont reward him if you call him and he comes when hes barking your rewarding him for barking thats why he is doing it. its not his fault hes just doing what you reward him for. i would make him give in it probably wont be the first or second time but he will get the clue if your more strict with him and only give him treats when hes at rest. good luck

you can get these things called clickers...
its basicly what it says on the box lol you click it with ur thumb when he does somthing right and u give him a treat he shees this as somthing good and realises that good behavour is good
also have you tried making a louse sudden noise im a high pitched voise. this destracts the dogs attention from the barking because u surprise him and then he will have ur attention then try tipping him when he stops . any other sudden unexpected noiose would work too but dont shout his name cos hes prolly used to that and its best to be a posotive sounding voise rather than an intimidating one. i had trouble with my dog running off on walked and that always got his attention. he also has a problen with our post man if u no what i mean lolso that usuly distracts him

good luck xx

Invest in a bark collar. This is a device which looks like an ordinary collar but which gives a small "zap" (safe, effective, and no worse than putting your tongue on a battery) which deters the dog from barking. You can pick one up at almost any pet store.

I have seen dogs with this problem and I really feel for you. I used to whisper to my dogs to get them to pay attention and I also gave them training from a very young age. The training and attention seems to help. I also found this book and am sending the link to you. Best of luck with your little friend.

Talk to your vet, there are other options, to quiet his barking.
