people here in eastern KY and WV come to your hometown to get jobs??
Most people here work with coal related jobs, the gas stations sell to people going to work, Wal-Mart sells to people who work in coal, doctors work on people who have insurance with coal companies, and lawyers get workers comp claims... I could go on and on
So where can we come to get jobs? What state and town would you reccomend?
I agree the pollution needs to be controlled or stopped so you dont need to give me your opinion on that! Just the location of where we can all come???

Dont worry Koka Butta my current job is selling seed used to reclaim the mine sites so I am already on top of that. I dont mind if you demolish my house because I have 67 acres full of trees (and always planting more) to live beneath. Your preaching to chior sister. This is just a question I get alot when I argue my global warming and pollution views. And I mean they have a right to ask....so in my quirky ways I brought this question to you. Thanks for responding

Your argument is only valid if the conversion to another energy source took place instantly.
This will not happen. What ever the energy source that would replace coal might be - someone has to produce it, regulate it, transport it, etc...etc....
When Henry Ford started mass producing automobiles, I'm sure all of the wagon makers, wagon repair shops, stables, horse breeders, blacksmiths and so fourth were asking the same type of question as yours - but they soon became garages, mechanics, gas station owners, salesmen, dealers and so forth.
Life goes on, only the industries and jobs change.

YOU ARE MISSING THE REAL IMPORTANT PART: KY & WV have a lot going for them aside from coal. And If the community seeks to develope in ways that remove the dependance on coal, everybody would be trying to live there.

If you were able to have an income of $50 to $100 Thousand a year with a cut in production of .01% in coal production would that be a good thing. You would not of moved out of the community, all would still function and the nation would have to find a source of energy to replace the .01% of LOSS coal production. Step by step all will work, as long as we won't do anything or keep doing the same thing, we will be up the creek.

Thumbs up to Koko Butta (since it's on the brink at the moment)

And there will always be jobs. The human race has continued for many millennium. The problem isn't finding jobs, because what ever takes over for fossil fuels will create jobs for those in the coal industry, it's the adjustment period.

Well, if we keep it, do you mind if I demolish your house so that I can plant more trees and save some air before we all suffocate from pollution and get skin cancer from UV rays?

There are plenty of in demand jobs. All those people need to stop destroying this damn earth anyway. We already have enough problems, can we at least have some fresh air and an intact ozone layer.

And like someone already said there will be jobs for the new energy system that they use anyway.

I live in Los Angeles, California. Come on down. Do the jobs that are currently done by illegal immigrants.
