my cat sleeps with me every night,if I shut the door, she will meow all night long, however, she chews/eats/nawls at my hair, not my scalp(and no, I do not have bugs, lol, also, I do not have hair spray in my hair, its freshly washed every night). Is this normal? If so,why does she do this?

Your cat may have been weaned too early and she is taking comfort from your hair. It does show her affection for you. Try getting a long haired stuffed pet for her and put it in the bed between you and her. Eventually she may leave your hair alone.

Easy...she plays with your hair because cats have a natural tendency to want to play with yarn. I guess your hair i the next best thing. And I believe you should treat the cat like a real person. You like her attention but I don't think you want her hanging all over you. Just give her some face time and train her to be on her own at night.

I don't know why cats do that. My cat does the same thing. I have to put the sheets over my head or else he will eat my hair and when it was really really long he would get the long hairs stuck in his butt with poop on the end, then he would run all over the house yowling and crying with this poop dingle dangling like "just married" cans on an old car. It used to drive me crazy!!.

Ha! so I am not the only one that experiences this!...lol...i have had my cat since she was born...her mother had trouble giving birth...first, her mother was a stray, a kitten we thought, and sooo very sick. she was letting it out both ends especially after eating or drinking. we gave her a course of antibiotics and that got her ok on the throwing up...but we couldnt get a grip on the diahrea. and then, against the odds this little kitten began to get very fat. we couldnt believe she could be pregnant, she just looked to young for that. finally, payday came and we took her to the vet...she was 9 months old and yup very pregnant. he wormed her and this stopped the diahrea problem. when the kittens were due, this girl came to us in the living room crying. we got down with her and began helping her. sadly, her first kitten was born dead. 4 hours later BooBoo came into the world (i knew from the beginning i would keep her)...2 hours and a lot of pain later i was too worried and my normal vet was out of town...i ended up taking her to another vet in the same town as mine (still 50 miles away, but the closest one we have) she underwent c-section and 5 more kittens were brought into the world (one month later we had to have one put to sleep, we couldnt figure out why, even with special care, it didnt improve) we found out it had congestive heart failure and the vet said he was surprised we managed to keep it alive so long....
so you see, BooBoo came into the world sorta topsy turvy and we soon learned she seemed a little slow sometimes. but from kitten hood she had a thing she would do with me that she does to this day, she snuggles up to my chest so i can wrap my arms around her, then she kneads on my chin and neck. i used to think she did this for her own sense of comfort and/or security...but something she did the other day leads me to believe she does it rather for MY comfort and/or security. as to the hair issue...for quite sometime now, it is a standing joke among my friends that i have my own private hair dresser....she bathes my hair, and cuts it....i used to worry about her ingesting it, but either the hairball stuff i give my cats prevents that or she doesnt...cause this has been going on for years (she is 6 in march) and no effects from it....i dont know if it is an attempt to "groom" me as she would a kitten "she was fixed before ever having any"...or a product of her slowness...or maybe an expression of Obsessive/compulive disorder in cats...like the one i have who pulls his fur out.

She is taking care of you like you are her baby. It is fairly normal for some cats. She is very motherly and nurturing. Has she ever had any kittens? Sometimes they will do that when they've lost a litter. My dog will do that to my hair now, sometimes. He is male and I find that strange. But whatever! It takes all kinds.

My Kittie Ginger does that to me when I'm sitting down. you should keep her in another room. But there is a spray that you can put in your hair. (It's harmless to humans and animals) but animals absolutely hate it, much less chew on it. It's called Barrier Spray. Good luck!

It's normal. She wants you to get up and play. They can't help themselves with the hair thing. I think they either know it wakes us up or its some wierd addictive thing to cats like crack. Lock the crazy cat in the bathroom or something...

She probably weants attention, and certain animals just have habits like we do. But the best thing to do is train her not to eat you hair! When she stops give her a treat, and punsih her when she doesnt do the right thing.

wow! that's doesn't sound normal but maybe the cat just like the smell of your shampoo. that or there might be something in it the cat likes.
