It has nothing to do with the weather. I brush him every morning. Sometimes his hair comes out in clumbs. Other times it comes out very little.

they get more fur at different times of the year. they shed at different times, also.

different things affect a cats fur like for instance if the houshold is stressful then the cat can too become unhappy causing the fur to fall out. But Im sure you are a good mommy to your kitty so I would say it might have to do with temperature. Animals get more fur in the winter time and they shed less but in the spring and summer they need less hair to stay warm so they will generally shed more due to the heat. And sometimes it could do with the food he's eating too, have you changed it reccently?

Oh, but it does have to do with the weather. It is genetically ingrained. Nearly all mammals shed at two mane times a year and constantly the rest of the time. Barometric pressure, humidity, temperatures, etc., all have to do with it. Also the amount of light may have something to do with it.

Also, as has been said above, stress is a big factor in hair loss in cats and dogs.

Diet is also a factor.
