its a bit of both ,having a quality driver can make a bad team better because of his experience can help the pit crew make the right adjustment to help the car ,also having a quality car and pit crew can help a driver get better with some coaching from the crewchief so if you have a bad driver or inexperienced driver with a bad or poor team their is no hope of winning ,like for example after dale sr hired michael waltrip to drive the napa car he started to contend in the points ie... top 20 car and team, before he joined he barely made a race or started way back in 35 to 43 place

I think a driver is more important. Some drivers just have natural talent. I always say if winning was about nothing more than who has the most raw talent, Kyle Busch would win every race. But there's so much more. The fact that there are better cars out there, the fact that there are more experienced drivers out there. The fact that he tends to crash. But, a great driver can get into any car anywhere and do well. Take Mark Martin. Ginn Racing. Hardly a prestige team, but takes second at Daytona.

The driver and the people who work on the car make the car good. Without all the engineers and mechanics the car wouldn't run on sunday. The best driver could tell the mechanics what to fix to make the car better.

there is a Nascar driver that is actually a professional stuntman. His name is Stanton Barrett he is still licenced to race in Nascar. He actually drove the #60 car in the Busch Series full time for a year or two. I believe there are a couple others too, meaning some of the lower tier drivers.

It has to be both. A good driver cannot make a piece of dog doo car do anything special, and a piece of dog doo driver will put even the best car in the wall.

I'm a firm believer that a driver makes the car better. Lets take David Gillian, crap car, crap team, wins a NBS race. Lets take Dale Jr also in 2005, crap car, but he still won at CMS.

I'd give the car the upper hand first and then it would
depend on the driver himself.

The fastest best set-up car normally wins unless mechanical
break-down or the out-of-gas thing or wreck happens.
