Martin Luther: To be a christian you must pluck out the eye of reason. Reason must be deluded, blinded, and destroyed. Faith must trample underfoot all reason, sense, and understanding, and whatever it sees must be put out of sight and ... know nothing but the word of God

Reason is the greatest enemy that faith has: it never comes to the aid of spritual things, but--more frequently than not --struggles against the Divine Word....

I don't.

I'm not an expert on the subjece of creation/evolution/big bang/string theory/ buhubbawhutta. But from what I've seen it all makes sense. So there was a big bang. String theorists (this is from an old source) think that there were membranes of energy in different dimensions (something like that) that collided to create matter. When God created the universe, he brought the waters together to form dry land. See any connection? (I wouldn't take the word waters literally if you see the connection.) Scientists say that the earth is millions of years old. Many creationists beg to differ because they take the Bible literally when it says the earth was created in seven days. I don't doubt that God is powerful enough to create the world in seven days, but think about this for a moment: the sun wasn't created until the fourth day. Our modern system of time wasn't invented yet. Four days could have been any amount of time. So I don't doubt that God could have made a big bang and the earth could be millions of years old. I don't doubt that at all. I don't doubt that there is natural selection. It only makes common sense. But I do doubt that any of this could have been created without God. There is a part of our brain that only functions when we are praying. Ponder that for a moment.

I don't, I use reason and logic all of the Time.
I Think the Trouble comes in when People just Read the Bible.
Yes, like a book that is in order.
The Bible jumps around alot.
The Bible has alot of Time between some sentences.
The Bible has alot of Hidden Meanings and Prophecys that GOD has to Lead and Guide you Through.
People who aren't Saved can Learn alot if they just Accept the Parts that are pretty much Straight Foward.AND they can get Saved too!

Children of GOD, even those who have been Filled with the Spirit, will have a Difficult Time without ALOT of Reading, Studying and PRAYING!

GOD Gives us Teachers so we can Learn Faster.
You can Learn Everything anybody Else has if you are Diligent and have the TIME.
I like to buy Teaching Material, I learn alot Faster that way.
Hope this helps.

They don't hate or defy reason and logic in all aspects of life. They just place more value on what they believe than on what the current scientific evidence points to. Science offers one explanation. Faith offer another. Neither origin can be proven or reconstructed so one explanation is as valid as the other.

For you to ask this question and for some to answer it like a gang of hoodlums shows to the whole educated world, I mean the really educated world, not your circle, that you do not have any idea what reason or logic mean. It take great logic and reason to defy accepted 'wisdom', it takes nothing to accept it, but doting trust.

Because Martin Luther, the founder of the Protestant movement, preached that reason was a deadly sin, and that blind faith is preferable to logic.

"But since the devil's bride, Reason, that pretty whore, comes in and thinks she's wise, and what she says, what she thinks, is from the Holy Spirit, who can help us, then? Not judges, not doctors, no king or emperor, because [reason] is the Devil's greatest whore." (German: "Vernunft ... ist die höchste Hur, die der Teufel hat.")
Martin Luther's Last Sermon in Wittenberg ... Second Sunday in Epiphany, 17 January 1546.

"Reason must be deluded, blinded, and destroyed. Faith must trample underfoot all reason, sense, and understanding, and whatever it sees must be put out of sight and ... know nothing but the word of God."
Said to be from V, 1312

"Whoever wants to be a Christian should tear the eyes out of his reason."
Said to be from V, 425

"Reason is the greatest enemy that faith has: it never comes to the aid of spritual things, but--more frequently than not --struggles against the divine Word, treating with contempt all that emanates from God."
Table Talk (1569), 353

To Nicole: So you hate and defy reason and logic because you don't hate and defy reason and logic. At least we got that resolved.

Reason and logic shouldn't mean that the Universe just happened without any sort of thought behind it. Human sentience (though often misused, admittedly) is a sheer miracle. Do you REALLY want human life to be some stupid accident?

Most alleged creationists don't know divine science. I got a question. Why are beasts smarter than humans? Sin has dulled are divine instincts.
