okay so my boyfriend and i have been together for like alomost 2 years now and we totally love each other, we are almost copies of each other, its great. We are both 17. Well we can see ourselves being together a really long time, we are already planning on moving in together when he is done with high school cause are colleges are so close. Well like all girls with their boyfriends, I said i wanted to get married to him, and he said that would be great, but that he wont marrie till he was 35!!!! Now this is the man of my dreams and it broke my heart to hear him say this....so i asked him why and he said that it was cause his little pot head, alcoholic father said that one girl will never be enough and that he shoud " take as many as he can" before he gets married. How can i make my boyfriend see that tha is not a great reason for not marring somone, that he should base it off of what he feels about a person rather than what his father thinks? He needs to make this choice for him

You look like a smart girl. Look at the statistics. 50% of all live in relationships last one year or less. 98% of all live in relationships that last more than 10 years end up in separation. Do the math. Get married. You've go better odds.

Honey, I hate to tell you this but it sounds to me like his father is not just telling to wait to get married but to play the field before he does....If he's listening to his father about not walking down the aisle until he's 35, what other advice of his is your boyfriend taking to heart? I think you guys need to have a really serious talk about where your relationship is headed and what you both see happening in the next few weeks, months and years.

Good luck!
