I thought it was terribly cruel for God to kill all the innocent children.

Killing the first born was a punishment. A person does not really feel love for a child until after it is born. The love a mother feels when the baby is still inside is different than the kind of love that comes with the bonding process. It's like the difference between someone taking a dollar from your paycheck in the event you will someday get a raise in pay or someone taking a dollar out of your pocket today. One is a maybe, the other is a now.

Because Pharaoh challenged God to kill all the first-born not the first-conceived.

Good afternoon to you too.
Well, if in a family the first conceived did not also happen to be the first born (miscarried I suppose) then it would already be dead - it's not much of a plague or punishment to kill something already dead now is it?

Because he said first "born" so it was the child already born.
What exactly is your point? God's command has nothing to do with when life begins.

It is more fun to kill babies. Seriously, if I knew what God was thinking, you think I would be wasting time on Yahoo?

uh ... the first born IS the first conceived, unless the first conceived was a miscarriage, in which case he/she is already dead.
