"Carbs" are carbohydrates. Many foods contain them - look at the nutrition label.

Someone who claims to have lost 6lbs in a week is either lying or dangerously unhealthy. Most experts suggest 2-3 lbs per week at the most. They probably lost just water.

Most meats and vegetables are low in carbohydrates.
Fats are different chemically, and are used differently by the body.

Carbs are carbohydrates in the food. These are starches, sugars and fats. All carbohydrates in your food are converted to a simple sugar called glucose. Glucose is the fuel that provides energy for the cells of the body. If you take in more carbohydrates than you need, the excess is converted to fat. If you take in less than you need, some of the fat is converted to glucose and somewhat toxic byproducts called phenylkeytones.

Carbohydrate content is usually listed on food packages by serving size. An average adult depending on activity and size needs from 1500 to 2100 carbs per day.

By eating all protein, you will lower your glucose levels below normal and force your body to convert fat to glucose in a process known as ketosis.

Before trying a high protein diet, you need to be sure that your liver and kidneys can handle the extra phenylkeytone load produced by the fat conversion. You must also beware that you may have problems is you are pre-diabetic, a condition that must be diagnosed by a doctor. Some serious and even life threatening problems can occur if your body is unable to cope with the lower glucose levels or the increased phenylkeytones.

Carbs is the short term for Carbohydrates. These are found in breads, cheese, milk, other dairy foods, sugars, basically the foods that give you energy. Proteins (meat and fish, as well as cheese and eggs) are body building blocks and carbs are fuel.

A person who eats only meat and vegetables are usually on the famous (or infamous) Atkins diet. You loose weight by starving the body of needed energy and burn off fat by using the fat as energy. The problem is is that once you begin eating carbs the body will store this as fat as a reserve for the next time you run out of fuel. Not a real good way to loose weight.

A real good way to loose weight is to eat smaller portions, increase your metabolism by increasing your exercise routine and by continuing to do so.

Good Luck.

I wouldn't worry about the carbs thing.

I never bother with carbs. It's just another fad to die out.

Just eat a balanced diet of 3 servings meat, 3 or 4 servings of veggies and fruit, and no more than 8 starches (like bread, peas, potatoes) a day; get at least 30 minutes of cardio exercise a day; drink plenty of water (water, tea); watch your salt, fats and sugar; and you'll be fine.

I have lost weight just by doing that. NO fad diets, no fancy carbs b.s., no counting calories.

a carb would be things like pasta, bread, rice, sugar and flours.
Meat has no carbs. it has some fat, but mostly protein
veggie have very few carbs
If you decide to cut carbs, you stop eating what is more or less simple carbs (or sugars) and eat complex carbs like whole grains. I think it's easy if you cut things made of "white" like sugar and flour and eat things made of "brown" like brown rice, oatmeal, grains.
I cut carbs and lost about 11 pounds in 6 weeks.

Most people are really confused about what it means to cut carbs, as you can see LOL. You cut simple carbs like donuts and replace them with HEALTHY whole grains like plain oatmeal.
