my friend and i are argueing about whether or not " ones " is like this " one's " or just " ones ". its used int eh sentence " The purpose of this lab was to see how different foods affect ones memory. "

One's is correct. In your sentence, it's used in a possessive form.

it should be "one's". one as in a person, and it's posessive, so you put the apostrophe before the 's'.

btw, this shoudn't be in mental health, it should be in homework help or language.....
