Jesus would not have carried a cross. The Roman crucifixion was done by fastening the person to a wooden beam and hoisting it up a post already fixed in the ground so if he was crucified (and not all the gospels say he was) he would have carried a wooden beam not a cross

Obviously the answers seem to indicate making one ... I agree. The fact the cross will be tailored to the child is the best way to go. I'd use styro-foam and just notch it, glue a cover of heavy brown package paper on it and then paint it. It's light, fairly strong and easy to make. Yet it'll be so full bodied it will "show" well!

Surely, you do not need to ask anybody for that information. A simple cross could be made by a two-year old. Get the local joiner to make you one from left over wood. Or get a bit of imagination.

Make one out of thick cardboard - it's cheaper! I know that when it was Poppy Day in England in November, they were giving out wooden crosses with poppies on them
