when a guy tells a woman he hasn't had intercourse before, how can you tell if thats a lie or not?

You can't know for sure.
If he's incompetent in bed, it might be true. Most likely it's a sympathy ploy to get into your pants.

If you have had, and I mean many times so you can consider yourself an “expert”, then you will pretty much know is true the first time you have sex with him as he will be inexperienced.
But if you are also inexperienced, then is more difficult, but you can still tell as you will notice if he takes lead and do many things or if he is just as clueless as you.
Now, if you want to know if he is lying or not without having sex with him, then the only way is trusting him. I mean, how else can you do it? Is too hard to know just by telling, not just that, but anything. You need prove. And on this situation would be to have sex with him.
Note: always use protection if you decide to have sex, no matter your age and how much you trust the person.

You cant until you have intercourse with him. See unlike women we arent equipped with an indicator device that says that our little man has been someplace.
Either you believe him or you dont. You could test his sexual knowledge and see. But really if he's terrible and scared to death the first time, its very likely that he was a virgin.
Though dont be offended if he doesnt show those signs, he could also be a natural ;)

I don't know if he telling the truth or not only you will know. How long have you been knowing him. If you don't trust him let him know you don't or better yet don't sleep with him until you are ready. Also before ytou sleep with him the both you you two go to the clinic and get a STD shot.

Well if he told you that he hasnt then you should be able to trust what he says, if you dont believe him then you dont want to be with that guy......
Whats wrong with you females? When a guy tells you they havent had sex or anything of that nature, you think its a lie, man....thats one reason i dispise you females

i guess you might be able to tell if you end up having sex, but other than that, the only way is to get to know him and if he seems trustworthy about other things, he's probably being honest about this too.

no real way to tell with a guy, it's up to you to believe him or not.
it could be true or just a way to try to get you in bed.

Well you cannot really tell unfortunately.
You could be nosey & ask his past girlfriends.
& if he is nervous & clueless that is usually a clue.
