I have healty roots but mid way down there very dry, used pantene breakaged defense, still didn't help. which products should i use?

This stuff smells beyond awful, but go to any little CVS or other little pharmacy and pick up Queen Helene's "Cholesterol" conditioner. If you leave it in a little longer than recommended, your hair will be really, really moisturized on the ends.
The smell is the pits, though.

the resolution to fixing split or dry ends is go to a hair salon and get maybe an inch or two cut off and your hair will look spectacular! Another resolution is to use pantene, conditioner and shampoo.

You need to cut them and after that, use a serum to seal the ends so that you may avoid this in the future.

cut them a little and put some leave in conditioner on

use a leave in conditioner and put it in after u take a shower. DON'T wash it out just leave it in.

get a trim to eliminate it. your hair should grow healthy again. Avoid using curling iron and flat irons, it will fry your ends.
