I know the USB connection is workin because if I switch to playback mode, my computer recognizes it, but I can't get my computer to even notice the camera when it's in camera (tape) mode. I checked the manual off the Internet, and it says that it should be in camera (tape) mode to be used as a webcam, and it doesn't work in (card) mode anyway.
I'm using a Mac OS X 10.4.8 computer and a USB connection.

to get a usb webcam to work at all, you need drivers.

there are several available, some free some priced.. I don't currently use a usb webcam.

But I found several at http://versiontracker.com and googling (or yahooing) for "os x usb web cam" should find them all!

if you throw in your cam name zr70,,, you may get a great hit!

If it's to be used as a webcam, then usually it should be in camera mode. Check the manual and make sure. Playback mode is generally used to capture video. If your camera came with a CD, use that. Or even better, use a firewire cable to connect it to your mac. Sometimes it won't work if you use USB. Hope this helps!

you probably did not grant sufficient suggestion. once you've a DV camcorder like mine, all you want is a firewire card. once you've an previous analog camcorder jointly with a VHSC, you want a video enhancing card. In both circumstances you want a marginally quickly computer for video enhancing. The USB port on the JVC is barely for transferring stills photos.
