That's called a line. Canned entertainment. Meaning original entertainment not easily forthcoming. Sometimes I imagine it's actually being straight. Usually? A lie. As in " I want something! Now! " Then again, if Jackson Pollock is any indication, a lotta people want to be lied to. Use your judgement.
