if you are flying within the USA. The limitations for most airlines is a see-through ONE QUART bag, with a zipper top (i.e Ziploc bags, I bought some Hefty OneZip myself). The limitation for liquids, aerosols, and hair gels is 3oz, and must also go into this bag. Only other liquid items you can bring are liquids purchased in the secure area of the airport.
Hope this helps.

Hope you don't mean suitcase for the hold as any litres of liquid could leak all over your luggage. In a flight bag you can take 3ml containers of liquids but they must be in a zip clear plastic bag. You can also now take contact lenses, such as dailies in their sealed liquid.

Its not just a case of how much liquid you can take on a plane, but its a question of what liquid you plan to take. Many liquids are classed as hazardous and so are not permitted on planes at all. Check with the airline and ask if they will accept your material. In any case, leakage is very common due to pressure changes in the hold.
The baggage allowance is a matter of weight - its stamped on your ticket.

You can take a very small bag and no more than 100 ml of liquid (less than a can of coke). I generally take a book and my MP3 player and that is all. They are so stupidly fussy about these things. The size limit is 20cm by 20cm.

Go to the website for the airline you are travelling with and the airport you are travelling from. You also have to think about where you are travelling to and from. The restrictions in other countries may be different from here.
