NEVER use cooking wine. It's horrible. It's made from inmferior wine and loaded with salt. Always use a wine you would drink. There are plenty of inexpensive wines that you can cook with.

Either... just best if it is dry. A cooking wine is too low-grade for drinking, but as heat will drive off any alcohol and change the flavour (compared to a drinking wine) anyway, it really makes no difference which you use.... just don't waste a pricey drinking red wine in cooking!

Never ever ever ever use cooking wine. Cooking wine is sold in grocery stores to do not have a liquor license. This is allowed because salt and off flavorings are added do discourage drinking it. Otherwise, kids would be buying it and drinking it all the time. They don't because it tastes awful.

Cook with a wine that you enjoy drinking. You don't have to break the bank, just get something pleasant to drink.

You should use red wine, not cooking wine. Many cooking wines are low quality and contain large amounts of salt to discourage general consumption of the wine alone.

Red wine that you would drink is much better to use, then cooking wine.

My dad makes up the best recipes. He uses regular red wine in his shrimp and snow peas.

Take a taste of each. Hey, why not hade the whole bottle ;) Which ever you like better would be the one that you should cook with.

I ALWAYS use a good red wine. You don't want to cook with anything you wouldn't drink.

Use the kind that you would drink. The "cooking wine" is extremely low quality. If you wouldn't drink it, don't put it in your food.

But, if its all you have, you can use them interchangeably in cooking. Just don't ever purchase "cooking wine" again ;)
