My daughter, who is 16 years old has been trying to lose weight for 3 months now, she used to weigh when she started 180 lbs and she's 5'5 now she weights 163 and can't seem to lose anymore weight, she's not sure what she's doing wrong....any ideas? She really hates her body and is always close to tears when she sees herself, she wants to lose 30 more pounds by June or July.

Shes should continue to work out and not give up, the first couple of pounds are always easy because of the change in your life style but tell her to continue and she should see results soon.

Tell her not to give up. Everyone, that tries to lose weight goes through stages like this. I don't know what kind of exercise program she is doing. But she needs to change things up. Maybe increase cardio or strength training. She might try protein if not already. I'm alittle older, but started a diet around the same weight. I'm now to 146lbs. Lost 21" total. The main key is for her to change her eating and work out habits every couple months. That way her body will not get use to the same thing.

Well....kudo's to her for doing such a great job already. Sometimes we get into that trap and our body doesn't want to respond. I am no expert, so I really wouldn't know for sure. Some of the things I would try is increase my cardio work out. Get my heart rate up more than usual and work out longer. And changing my diet, even if I've been watching what I eat, I would move on to things I've never tried before and even change the time I would eat. Sometimes a lot of little changes helps the body get out of that trap. Other than that there's a lot of books with lots of ideas out there. Good Luck!

im not sure about this and im just guessing, but it sounds like your daughter is on wut people call a "weight loss plateau"

its just a time when people who are trying to lose weight, just stop losing weight after losing some already. This is the reason that most people quit dieting and exercising. tell her to stick with it no matter what and soon she will lose weight ....dont let her get down about it, she will lose it soon
