My dog loves rawhide bones (she goes through a medium size one is about a day or two!) but I notice if she eats them she throws up sometimes or gets constipated. I bought two nylabones to see if she would take to those to play with but she won't touch them (one regular the other chicken scent). Any advice on how to get her to like them or do you recommend another type of chew toy that won't cause her problems?

She does have a kong and loves it...I didn't buy the soft nylabone but bought the hard off white and white nylabones....even though she likes her kong I want to find something else so she has a variety of things to play with!

You can smear cream cheese or peanut butter on the Nylabone, and see if she will take to that, or get her Kong toy..

My 2 dogs love Nylabones... but they dont like rawhide..lol Funny its the exact opposite with your dog. Anyway, I suggest you play with her with the nylabone, you know throw it for her like a stick, kick it across the floor, intiate play with a play bow, pretend you are chewing on it and it tastes really good.. that little tactic always works for me to get my dogs to play with a new toy.. they think they are missing out on something that even I want to eat..lol Also I suggest instead of rawhide bones for an edible treat (because of the problems they cause) try real smoked bones like knuckle bones, marrow bones etc they sell them at pet food stores and they are way better for your dog than rawhide. Just as a word of advice though not every dog likes nylabones, mine love them but they wont touch a kong no matter what its stuffed with. I have met several dogs that dont care for nylabones at all and wont chew them. You'll just have to wait and see if your dog decides to like them or not, in the meantime encourage her by encorporating the nylabones into play and games.

This is a very good question.. I just went through this with my pup. the Nylabones I get for him are the beef flavor. At first he would take it, but, I laid it on the floor and wouldn't give him anything else and he finally did. Don't give in the the whimpering or whinning. I also switch with real bones. I never give any dog rawhide bones. I have had to many choke on them. Try giving her the other flavors and not giving in to her when she doesn't take them. She will when she figures out that is all she is going to get..

You could try Busy Bone. They will probably last about 5 seconds with your dog though. Nylabones are soft too. If your dog did like them they wouldn't last long at all. You can buy real beef knuckle bones too. That is what I give my dogs.

My dog doesn't like the almost clear rubbery nylabone but loves another type of nylabone. It is off-white and hard, and she loves it. It belongs to my friend's dog and I don't know where they bought it at. But I do know it is the nylabone brand.

My 2 dogs love them. Try to play with the bone yourself and tease her with it. Then she should try to grab it and play keep away with it. Or you can buy a diff. flavor. Like peanut butter or something. But my dogs still like the plain ones! or since the bones r pretty expensive u can buy a couple of the small ones which r cheap and buy diff. kinds see which ones she likes and buy bigger ones of it. Then the ones she doesn't like give em to a friend or something!
