The curved plexiglass of a windscreen causes it to polarize light. If your glasses are polarized in a different direction, you may not see something that you need to see (like another aircraft being flown by another pilot with polarized glasses on a collision course).

The reason for the recommendation is that LED instrumentation becomes invisible, some colors on instrument dials,.and on navigation charts disappear whilst wearing polarized sunglasses. Polarized lenses eliminate reflected glare from a flat surface. looking through a laminated aircraft windscreen, while wearing polarized lenses, can result in a reduced retinal image.

Some of electronic readouts on the instrument panel won't be visible

(I can't wear polarized lenses at the ATM machine)

The windshield of the aircraft is polarized, to reduce glare. If they wear polarized glasses, the windshield will look blacked out. They will, literally, be flying blind.

We can't?

I wear them all the time. If I'm not directly in front of some of the LCD gauges, they will black out, but all I have to do is sit up again. Fortunately, my torque gauge tones at me when I'm close to limits. I don't even have to see it.
