Your dog may just prefer the more appealing smell of the cat food. Cat food historically has been desgined to have a stronger flavor and dog food has been more mild because, well, dog breath is really bad when magnified by fishy odors. But they're adding more fish oil to some dog foods nowadays to get more omega fatty acids in there.

Try a different brand of dog food. There was one brand out there about a year ago that was contaminated and some dogs refused it. Others were forced by their owners to eat it and suffered organ damage. Dogs' sense of smell is many times stronger than our own. Maybe the dog is smelling trace amounts of a cleaning product from the factory or something. Or possibly your dog is allergic to a component of the dog food.

Other than that, talk to your vet. Maybe there's something else going on like your dog ate rocks and needs them removed from his/her stomach. You never know.

You might want to have your dog checked. Cat food actually has more protein than a dog really needs and in the long run, it's not so good for them. Have your vet check her and try different dog foods. You can always get samples and see how he does with them. I had this problem as well and it took awhile, but I found some dog food that mine would eat and not get sick. It will take some time, but try it. For your dog's health.

I must ask what kind of dog food did you feed your dog? Grocery store foods are mostly just fillers and to be honest I had the same problem with my Boston terrier. I found that Canidae is an exceptional food and has made such a huge difference for us. Go to Canidae.com and check it out. It could be that your dog gets sick because of the wheat, corn, or soy fillers in regular dog food. Canidae does not contain these and uses human grade meats. As far as letting your dog eat cat food.......I would not. Cat food is formulated for cats and has a much higher fat content than dog food and can cause obesity in you dog along with other health problems.

Ingredients in cat food are usually easier to break down and digest, as they are designed for smaller animals (cats).
You should try giving your dog a good quality dried feed. These are in pellet form and studies have shown that these foods give a better balance of nutrition due to them requiring less additives and preservatives.

please don't give your dog cat food. it's not the right neutrents and it could be doing him/her more trouble then good. your dog probably just has a sensitive stomach and therefore requires a more sensitive stomach friendly dog food.

It could possably be a health problem. have you asked your vet yet? They would know what to do. They could also recommend to you some pet foods also that could help.
