If you are sure that it is a true carbuncle, please do not treat this at home. A carbuncle is a coalescence of faruncles (boils), and is a serious subcutaneous tissue infection caused by Staphylococcus aureus. You need antibiotics, because the carbuncle is just short of bacteremic spread to other tissues and needs to be treated systemically. Staph aureus is very dangerous when it invades the bloodstream, and can lead to rapidly fatal conditions. Please see your doctor about antibiotics ASAP.

A carbuncle is a deep infection which needs antibiotic treatment. Until you can get that you can try wet heat (wet wash cloth as hot as you can stand). This will draw the pus up to the surface and get a head (or possible multiple heads) on the carbuncle. If you are brave you can break the head to remove some of the pus and muck but it will be painful to do. Once it bursts the pressure and pain will ease slightly. You DO need the antibiotics though to get rid of all of the infection

A carbuncle is a bacterial skin infection that begins with an infection of the hair folliclesand spreads to deeper tissues. Because it is not just a superficial and small infection, but rather is traveling under the skin it needs antibiotic treatment to prevent it getting even worse. Because of the location I would see the doctor for treatment pretty quickly. Good luck.
